Medicinal Plants
from Bay Area Gardens

Whether it is known by the gardener or not, all gardens grow a plethora of medicinal plants. Medicinal plants are planted as cut flowers, trees, culinary herbs, California natives and then magically turn into effective medicines when the gardener learns how to safely prepare and apply these plant allies. Self planting "weeds" are also often powerful medicines that grow themselves. This class will be an introduction to the age old tradition of herbal medicine and will discuss a handful of common garden medicinals and how to use them for common maladies.

Feel free to bring a few sprigs of any plant that you would like to learn how to use.
